Dr Clio Bax

MBChB
Clio completed her MBChB at the University of Cape Town. She has a special interest in the management of Diabetes and Hypertension and has accreditation from the Centre of Diabetes and Endocrinology as well as a postgraduate diploma in Diabetes Management from the University of South Wales. However, she enjoys seeing patients of all ages and enjoys the variety that family practice offers. She loves getting to know her patients and their families.  When she is not at work she is kept busy by her 3 young kids. She loves spending time with her family and her animals, running and mountain biking (when she gets a chance).

Dr Candice Reder

MBChB
Candice grew up in Johannesburg and completed her MBChB degree at the University of Witwatersrand. She enjoys treating most general chronic conditions as well as the management of women and children's health. What she loves most about general practice is the opportunity to care for and walk alongside families throughout the various stages of life. She is a mom of 2, loves spending time in the kitchen and feels most content spending a peaceful weekend in the mountains.

Dr Eugene Marais

MBChB
Eugene qualified with a MBChB from the University of Stellenbosch in 1984. He completed his vocational training at Frere hospital. His time at Famcare started in January 1992 where he built up a successful practice. Eugene has a passion for general practice and has invaluable experience. He has an interest in geriatrics and chronic conditions. He also has accreditation from the Centre of Diabetes and Endocrinology. During his free time he enjoys being with his wife and family out in nature.

Dr Shannon Keene

MBChB
Shannon completed her medical degree at the University of the Witwatersrand and went on to train at the East London Hospital Complex, gaining broad experience in both internal medicine and emergency care early in her career. She moved into private practice and developed a focused clinical interest in women’s health, micronutrient deficiencies, weight loss and gut health. Not only is Shannon the founder of the Famcare Infusion Centre, she is also an active speaker in the field of iron deficiency and its treatment, known for delivering practical, clinically relevant insights. Alongside her general practice, Shannon works closely with obstetricians and gynaecologists in East London, both in theatre and in the ongoing management of women’s health. Outside of work Shannon is married and has two wonderful children.
Gena

Dr Gena Mosca

MBChB
Gena studied at the the University of the Free State and qualified with an MBChB in 2006. She has always loved surgery and the hands on side of medicine. Because of this she enjoys small procedures including lumps and bumps, wrinkles and hyperhydrosis (excessive sweating). She also enjoys the variety of general practice and will see any acute or chronic medical condition; drawing on personal experience with thyroid pathology, PCOS and ADHD. She is a wife and a mom of two boys currently in primary school and likes to keep busy in her free time (singing, playing piano, swimming in the ocean, running and all things creative).

Dr Catherine Haupt

MBChB
Catherine is originally from Johannesburg and completed her MBChB degree at the University of Pretoria. She has worked in hospitals in the Johannesburg area as well as Primary Health Care facilities in Cape Town before moving to East London. She has a passion for general practice as she believes it is the cornerstone of effective healthcare. While her special interests are that of female health, mental health and paediatrics she believes in holistic care and strives to ensure that all the patients she sees are looked after and empowered to take care of their health. Catherine is married and keeps busy with a variety of hobbies outside of work ranging from cooking to DIY to outdoor adventures.

Dr Mike Watson

BPharm, MBChB
Mike first completed his Pharmacy degree at the University of Rhodes in 1979 before he qualified with his MBChB degree from the University of Cape Town in 1985. After this he did his vocational training in Family Medicine at Frere Hospital. He joined the Famcare family in 1991. His main interests are around metabolic syndrome, including diabetes (accreditation from the Centre of Diabetes and Endocrinology), cholesterol problems, hypertension and obesity. He is also a senior aviation medical examiner and diving medical examiner. When outside the practice, Mike enjoys fishing, diving and general fitness. He is married with two beautiful children.

Dr Warren Gregorowski

MBChB
Warren completed his MBCHB degree in 2011 and moved to East London for Internship and Community Service. His work experience includes a primary health centre in Khayelitsha, an emergency department in Ireland as well as some time doing anaesthesia but his main experience is in internal medicine, having worked in internal medicine at Frere for 6 years. He enjoys managing hypertension, diabetes, cardiac and renal conditions but also really enjoys working with children.

Dr Jason Thoreson

MBChB
Jason is born and bred in East London. He completed his MBChB at Stellenbosch University in 2013, has a diploma in Allergology and is currently completing his Masters in Allergology. He is keenly interested in allergies and auto-immune conditions and is a member of the Allergies Foundation of South Africa. He is married and has a beautiful young son. He enjoys spending time with his family and when time permits he likes to get involved with triathlons with a particular interest in Iron Man events.
