Infusion Centre
Our doctors and nurses are trained in administering a variety of medications via intravenous infusions
These are prescribed medications used to treat medical conditions that have not responded to or are unable to be treated with oral medications
Prescription medications include, but are not limited to, the treatment for iron deficiency and osteoporosis
"Our infusion centre aims to provide in-hospital level care in a comfortable out-patient setting, preventing the need for admission for these patients."
- Dr Keene, coordinator of FamCare infusion centre
Who gets seen at the infusion centre?
Patients who have been seen and assessed by their own FamCare GP as requiring a medically indicated infusion (for example, an iron infusion)
Patients can self-refer for an assessment by booking a consultation with any of our doctors to determine the need for an infusion (for example, if you think you may be iron deficient)
Patients requiring infusions may be referred for an infusion by a variety of GPs and specialists including gynaecologists, physicians, surgeons, psychiatrists and dieticians
